Stephen Bott grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree, cum laude. At Vanderbilt, he received a Blair Honor Scholarship for all four years and twice won the Heard Prize for Excellence.
Stephen received his Juris Doctor, with Distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law. During law school, Stephen had an article published in the North Dakota Law Review, where he served as the Student Articles Editor. He also worked for the Central Legal Research Program that assisted prosecutors, court-appointed defense attorneys, pro-se litigants, and judges, with legal research issues.
Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Stephen worked as the Staff Attorney for the Northeast Central Judicial District of North Dakota. In that role, Stephen supported five State Court Judges, and two referees by providing legal research, and the writing of legal opinions, orders, and other documents for both civil and criminal cases. Stephen reviewed all of the default and stipulated matters handled by the Court. He supervised and administered the on-site law clerk externship program that was run in a partnership with the University of North Dakota. Additionally, Stephen was the Judge in the child support Order to Show Cause Hearings and presided over specialty courts such as Juvenile and Adult Drug Court.
At Morgan & Morgan, Stephen practices in the Complex Litigation Group with an emphasis on mass tort claims and class action litigation. As part of the eDiscovery team, he has been focused on document review and analysis and assembling settlement packages.
