Erik Harper began his legal career as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit where he worked closely with judges to resolve issues before the Court on appeal. He then went on to focus on appellate law and worked for the First District Appellate Project and the California Appellate Project.

Erik became passionate about personal injury litigation after being hired to research and write for a small personal injury practice. Since then, Erik has worked for some of the top personal injury firms in California before coming to Morgan and Morgan. Highlights from his legal career include obtaining a $1.7 million settlement for the family of a 90-year-old who perished in a truck collision, turning a $100,000 case into a $1.4 million case through skilled legal analysis and argument, making new law before the California Court of Appeal regarding Code of Civil Procedure section 12, working pro bono to obtain political asylum for a victim of the Al Shabab terrorist group, and successfully saving a legal permanent resident from deportation by arguing a California criminal conviction was not a removable offense under federal law.
